So you ask yourself... "Why a Toy Drive?" Here's the story...

For the past six months, it has come upon our family's heart to help those in Fort Mill. We have mainly been in the 'Paradise area' of Fort Mill, which is Steele Street and all the streets that branch off of it. The Lord opened our eyes when we saw how others live. Here in Fort Mill, we've seen horrifying living condtitions. We've seen holes in the floors and walls, heavy cockroach infestation, windows covered with plastic letting the elements and bugs in... When we realized that this isn't overseas, that it is RIGHT HERE in our town, we had to ask ourselves why people, (especially children), have to live that way? What makes us so blessed to NOT have to live that way?"

They are people just like you and I... The difference is, that they might be out of a job, out of money, out of food, or perhaps even out of the necessities to live. (electricity, heat, water.) What continues to pull at our heart strings, is the love the children give when you show them the love of Jesus through providing for them. We remember, one time we went, and about eight children came running out to greet us. It was like we were in a third world country!

Our journey has completely changed our lives. That day started us on a rollercoaster journey -- having happy (and not-so-happy) moments. It led us here to make this decision to begin a Toy Drive. I am using MyFortMill.com's audience to get the word out. With our group of volunteers, we are on a mission: Most obvious is that NO child be left without a Christmas present. Most importantly though, is that we show Jesus' love for them by providing for them. We want them to know, that when it feels like noone else cares, that Jesus is ALWAYS there. He was the ultimate gift that God gave us, and we want them to know the Joy of knowing Him.
